San Augustin

Today's page is a companion page to one I blogged last year and the colours are out of my comfort zone really but I'm going along with the colours I used for the page I want it to go with. I've used papers and elements from several different kits and have recoloured all of them I think! I enjoyed making it and it's growing on me, I think we have to challenge ourselves with what doesn't always feel comfortable sometimes.

Here is a two page spread of both pages so that you can see them together:

Home From Home

This page is a facing page for the one I blogged here and completes the first 3rd of an 8x8 album I doing of our very first holiday to Gran Canaria. I'm devoting a third of the album to each of the 3 places we stayed. This one completes Puerto de Mogan - for this album at least, lol!
The backing papers and white embossed strip are my own and have been combined with elements from various kits from Daisy Trail and Miriam's Scraps with various effects done in Craft Artist. Don't forget there are some freebie backing papers on the freebie page of this blog if you haven't already got them.

Festival

Today I'm sharing two facing pages for the Gran Canaria album I'm working on. I'm pretty sure that if you click on the photos to enlarge them you'll be able to read what it was all about so I needn't repeat it here. Suffice to say they are great memories and those goats in the middle picture of the bottom page were impeccably behaved during the parade. These pages took a bit of bringing together and I used papers and elements from a variety of kits and can't remember which ones just now but if you want to know about anything in particular let me know in the comments and I'll hunt it down for you.

Some Enchanted Evening Part Deux!

This is another page using the Heartfelt kit by Angie Hinkman from Daisy Trail and is a companion page to the 'Some Enchanted Evening' one a couple of posts down. Getting ready in our lovely apartment to go out for dinner - we had full cooking facilities that we took advantage of because the produce was so lovely but it's nice to be pampered a bit too isn't it? I used another of the templates from Template Dreams and made a few tweaks in Craft Artist.

...and the livin' is easy.....

I was feeling a little bit irritable but without knowing why when I made this card, and I think I subconsciously created something I'd find soothing. I used one of Trish's templates (from Template Dreams) again as a starting point and Aviary Paradise kit from Daisy Trail. I changed the colour of the  backing paper I used slightly because it wasn't quite blue enough for what I was aiming for. I tweaked a few things in Craft Artist and added one of my own embossed papers to complete the look. I like the unfussy look of the layout of this template and the end result helped to sort my mood so all in all a good result! Lol!

Some Enchanted Evening

It really was a lovely evening too. We were in Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria and it was out of season but that didn't stop most of the restaurants opening up and some of them even opened up especially if you showed an interest earlier in the day - amazing service! On this occasion, the owner was open but we were still his only customers. We ate the most fabulous food and the restaurateur managed to do everything himself including creating a great atmosphere for us - a lovely memory to scrap. I've created the page using the other Angie Hinkman kit I mentioned which is called Heartfelt and you can get from Daisy Trail, and another template from Template Dreams - Scalloped Layers.

One Of Life's Good Days!

This is another page from our first holiday in Gran Canaria in 2005. This was taken during the middle of the 3 weeks we were there when we were staying at San Augustin. I've used a new kit that I was tempted into buying by Edna and Carol because both have produced some fabulous things with it. It's from Daisy Trail - True Blue by Angie Hinkman and while I was there another of Angie's kit's seemed to slip into my basket but I'll show you that one another time. :-) I used another template from Template Dreams too. I haven't really used templates before but I must admit to enjoying using the two sets I treated myself to recently. The only thing that isn't part of either kit is the piece of white embossing behind the photo which is one of my own papers that I added to stop the photo blending in too much.

Hush Little Baby........

I couldn't resist scrapping this photo from the newspaper of little Jacob and his Mum, it's such a lovely pic of them both. I know she'll have a proper one from the paper in full colour anyway, so I decided to make it black and white for this page. I wanted to keep a nice clean look so decided to go for lots of white and just shades of blue and I'm rather pleased with how it's worked. I created the white embossing and the embossing onto the vellum in Craft Artist. The scalloped borders and chipboard word are both from Template Dreams kits and re-coloured.
Kay was delighted with the other two pages I did of Jacob when I gave them to her and I think she'll love this one too. She hadn't come across scrap booking like this and was blown away by the whole concept so I'm looking forward to giving her this one.

What Big.....

I managed to do myself a mischief yesterday and all I was doing was picking a brass olive up off the garage floor so that I didn't damage the tyres on my scooter  - I'm not sure what happened but I felt something 'give' and a sharp pain. I suspect that I've pulled a muscle about half way up my rib cage and I don't half know it so I was glad of the distraction of creating this page this morning. I treated myself to a lovely new kit from Daisy Trail - Butterfly Kisses by Karen Glover and to a template kit - Circle Fun by Template Dreams that I couldn't wait to try out. I've used template 1 very closely and changed the colours of a couple of things from the kit. The embossed white mount is my own. The photo is of my lovely nephew taken a couple of years ago at Halloween  He'd be 10 then. The kit is actually quite a romantic one but I loved the colours for a Halloween photo. I put the page together in Craft Artist.

Hope your day is going well and as for me - well, the next time I see a brass olive on the garage floor I'll kick it to one side and leave hubby to pick it up himself! Who'd have thought being married to a plumber would be so hazardous?? Lol! :-)

Parroting On!

I don't tend to use green much but rather like this shade. The parrot and paper are both from Aviary Paradise by Daisy Trail and I've sponged around the edges in Craft Artist on the largest piece. I took the white embossing on a little further and created a full sheet that I've used 2 pieces of behind the topper. I love the fresh look of white with this paper and how they compliment to colours in this lovely parrot.

Irises and Daffodils

Well, back to normality today, or what passes for it in my case - I'll probably be thinking it's Monday all day! I've been having some more play with digital white embossing in Craft Artist. This one was a little more challenging because it just wanted to emboss a square. In the end I put it through cut out studio first and that sorted it. The embellishment is from banners and dividers again and is lovely because it has a flat non-embossed bit in the middle that you can put something into. On this occasion I've added two digis to it - the iris which I used twice and the daffodils that I cut out of the mug they're in. The greeting was added separately too. I used a corner embellishment to create a punch in CAP2, punched out the 4 corners and used 1 of the 'waste' pieces as a die cut in the top right hand corner.
