A Right Pair!

This card came about because I decided to experiment a bit. I treated myself to a set of backing papers from  Stuff to Scrap and each paper comes with two more to match - one with a glittery edge and one being a solid glitter. The centre panel has been created from a corner digi - I used 4 to create an embellishment which I turned into a punch in Craft Artist 2. I used this punch to punch the shape out of the glitter paper then replicated it 8 times to create a background. Seeing that parts of it looked like flowers, I created a centre for them from the same paper and gave it a 3D effect. So far, good - but then I had a lovely bp that I didn't want to cover up so what to do with it??? Thankfully, Tina on the Joanna Sheen Forum gave me an idea! The new monthly challenge on the forum is to use a corner (stamp, die, digi etc) and make it the focal point on the project. All the papers that I've used to mat and layer are from the same set and I've teamed them up with my own peacock digi and ribbon and bow from the Eggstravaganza kit (both from Crafty Ann's) that I changed the colour of to suit. I enjoy this form of hybrid crafting because I can have as many layers as I want to and still have the look of lots.

It's Always The Right Time.......

This card has been inspired by several challenges and I thoroughly enjoyed creating it. I've used a long neglected but well loved image from Joanna Sheen's Fashion boutique CD that I overlaid onto a piece of the same bp as the pinkish one then applied a luminosity filter in Craft Artist 2. Both the bps are my own and just seemed to be the right colour to go with chocolate. The doily  sentiment banner and border panel are from A Picture Paints A Thousand Words from Crafty Ann's. The doily is originally white but I used a couple of styles in CAP 2 to give it the gold foil effect. The border is a mask that I again used a couple of styles on then duplicated another twice to give me this panel. The mug of hot chocolate is one of my own drawings turned into a digi stamp. The tag comes from a lovely freebie kit called Age of Elegance by Sharon Smith Warner that she so generously shared with our Craft Artist ~ Creative CAPpers group on facebook. I've added the text which says "Sending you a hug in a mug!"

I'm entering my card into these challenges:
  • Daring Card Makers - Hot Chocolate.
  • MTTC - Be inspired by a song - "Chocolate cake for breakfast" by Bill Cosby (yes really - google it!)
  • Top Tip Tuesday - Tag you're it. (Create a tag or feature one on your creation)
  • Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
  • CD Sunday - Hugs and Wishes (I'm sending this hug in a mug along with heartfelt wishes to a friend who is going through the mill at the moment so I hope this fits the criteria, but if it doesn't, just let me know girls and I'll withdraw it.)
  • OSAAT - Use a digi

Last but not least, I'm entering the totally digital layout into the current challenge at Digitally Sweet which is Anything Goes although I haven't used the optional sketch this time.

Thank you for your visit today, I'm just off to watch the rugby (six nations.)

I've only ever visited Puerto de Mogan once, for a week - but would go back in a heartbeat! I wonder if it would be the same 2nd time around and almost 8 years later though.........maybe it's better to just keep dreamin'.......
I do love to scrap the photos of our stay though, it's a great way to re-live wonderful memories isn't it? I've used several kits for this page from Crafty Ann's, Daisy Trail, Miriam's Scraps and Cool Scraps. I 'inked' around the backing paper using a bristle brush in Craft Artist.

Plotting Mischief!

The challenge at Digitally Sweet this week is Love Is All Around and I couldn't resist scrapping this page of my hubby. It's one of my favourite photos of him because of the expression on his face. I took the photo on our very first holiday together and he's even more of a miserable old scroat when it comes to having his photo taken than I am and I threatened to keep snapping away until he smiled. About 50 photos later, it worked but I'm sure you can see by his expression that he was already plotting his revenge!
Everything I used is from the A Picture Paints A Thousand Words kit from Crafty Ann's. I changed the colour of the main bp from green to brown in Craft Artist. The fancy borders and mounts for the journalling and title were also created in Craft Artist using the masks that are part of the kit.

Love Actually

It's time for our next challenge at CACB already! This time we've been inspired by another film - Love Actually. It can be any love themed project and I'm showing you the card I made for hubby for our 6th anniversary last weekend.
I put the layout together using Craft Artist 2 and used items from several kits. The mask is a digi stamp (Venetian Mask 3) and I coloured it using a variety of techniques from straight forward colouring to paper piecing and adding texture via Craft Artist to parts to make it look glittered. The kits used were from Crafty Ann's and With Love Studios.

I hope you'll get the chance to join us this fortnight - there can never be too much love in this world!

Hearts & Flowers

I'm running a bit close to the wire again with this one, but I love how the Digitally Sweet challenge is promoting and encouraging digital crafting and really don't like to miss it if I can help it. This time the theme is Hearts & Flowers - you know how things sometimes just slot into place and sometimes just.......don't?!?! Well this creation fell into the latter category, lol!! We don't really celebrate valentine's day so I thought I'd scrap one of our wedding photos instead this year and this is what I eventually came up with. The triple heart (complete with sentiment) is a digi stamp from  the Love is All Around 1 sheet and I played around with it in Craft Artist Pro 2 to get the effects you can see. The red bp is a freebie here, the ivory satin one is from Miriam's Scraps Aged Wedding as are the skeleton leaves, the swirly flourish is from Miriam's It's All in the Wood and the roses are from J'aime Paris by TATB.

Love Tag

This is something I had a lot of fun with. I created a digital lasercut using Music Collage 3 digi stamp (this is currently available as a freebie here on facebook until Monday 4th Feb.) The lovely Catherine has done a tutorial how to do this for our fb group Craft Artist ~ Creative CAPpers and it's very addictive! Then I had to think about what to do with it and who should come charging to the rescue but the lovely girls at Digitally Sweet. The time the theme is Anything but a card or layout. Now, I will admit that this threw me at first - then I decided to give a tag ago. Tags aren't something that I do very often - real or otherwise and this is my first digital tag. It won't be my last though because I had a ball making it and I've used a surprising number of things too. I used:

  • tag shape & ribbon V from A Picture Paints A Thousand Words. (APPAW) The rose and paper I created the tag from is from Eggstravaganza. Both kits from Crafty Ann's
  • Violin is from Aged Wedding by Miriam's Scrap
  • The flowers and word art is from Only You from With Love Studio
  • Music Collage 3 digi stamp - also from Crafty Ann's (see above for how to get it free until 4th Feb. If you miss out on the freebie but would still like it, it's only 60p)
  • All put together in Craft Artist 2
Having created the tag I couldn't resist a little 'tongue in cheek' moment and used the easel and bits from APPATW to display it digitally like the little easels you can get to display cards on. I've loved how this challenge got me thinking from several different angles.

I hope you're all having a lovely and crafty weekend.

Tie A Yellow Ribbon

I'm meeting myself coming back this morning so please forgive me being slow posting this. Our second challenge of the year at CACB starts today and this time our inspiration is coming from the film/song, Tie A Yellow Ribbon which means we want something tied, some yellow and ribbon - of course you can have all three in one if you take the title literally, lol!
You might not believe this, but this card started out with green as the main colour! As I twiddled and fiddled, things gradually changed - including the colour of the two papers. The papers (which are both originally green), doiley and border embellishments are from the A Picture Paints A Thousand words kit, the silver ribbon bow is from the Eggstravaganza kit and the main image is Rose Trellis digi stamp. (All are from Crafty Ann's), I put it all together in Craft Artist 2.

I'm entering my card into these challenges:
I hope you'll be able to come along and share your take on this challenge too.

Before I go, I thought I'd let you know that as today (Friday) is my birthday, I'm celebrating with a freebie of a couple of my favourite digi stamps on Crafty Ann's page on facebook. Just click on the link to take you to the page. You have until Monday to get them. :-)
