Snow is fallin'

This is another card that ended up creating it's own journey. I set out to create a blue based Christmas card for this week's CD Sunday Challenge and had every intention of going down the pale blue/white route.....so what went wrong??? The short answer is that I'm not really sure, it just seemed to evolve this way by itself! I like it well enough so that's okay though. :) My starting point was the image which is from Joanna Sheen's Victorian Christmas CD which I laid onto a mottled stone bp and then added a glass 'tile' that I created in Craft Artist pro2 The other two bps and embellishments are all from Crafty Ann's kits although I played around with the ribbon, photo corner and brads using a couple of effects to make them all match.

That's another one for the box - and the beauty of creating cards in CAP is I can print as many off as I want to when I want them so no last minute rush when mojo has gone awol! :-)

Christmas in October

Given that I'm seeing various public places decorated for Christmas already, the title of this post doesn't seem all that outrageous! On this occasion though, it relates to our new challenge on CACB.I decided to make a page featuring one of our GDs. I created this layout in Craft Artist Pro 1. The hat on Sophie's head is one I drew and added and I decided to make this one a glitter globe rather than a snow globe so added the glitter in CAP too. Apart from the mount the text is on, everything is from Trad-temporary Christmas from Crafty Ann's. Even though this layout has been designed as a scrapbook page, it wouldn't take much to adapt it for a family Christmas card too.

'Twas the night.......

I have barely been able to get on the computer for the last week, let alone getting anything creative done! Hopefully I'll get more chance this week.......anyway, I have managed this card which I created in Craft Artist. It's another black & white + 1 and was triggered by the challenge at CHNC.
What I used:

  • White bp from Denim Lace (from Miriam's Scrap)
  • Red bp, silver brads and snowglobe from Trad-temporary Christmas (from Crafty Ann's) The black bp is the red bp re-coloured in CAP
  • Label from Swirling Memories (from Daisy Trail) and recoloured in CAP
  • Digi stamp from NanaVic digitals.
I was originally going to have two of the scalloped edged strips and used the punch feature in CAP2 to punch them out side by side and inadvertently created the piece of 'ric rac' as a waste piece which I kept to one side. In the end I decided to use only one of the punched out shapes and used the piece of 'ric rac' down the middle of it. I've also used it around the edges - I do love a 'happy accident' don't you?? Incidentally, the punch I used is one I created myself - just so you don't drive yourselves mad trying to find it, lol!

Yum! Yum!

Hello bloggers, it's time for another challenge at CACB and this time our theme is black & white + 1 other colour or black & white + a coloured topper. I've kind of combined the two here - mostly because I knew what I wanted in my head but struggled with it in reality! I used the red crinkle paper and turned the same paper black & grey to use with it. The digi stamp is Santa's treats and coloured digitally. I created the card in Craft Artist.

Going for Gold....and Silver!

I hate to say it, but "that" time of year is getting ever closer! Do you like to prepare in advance or are you someone who thrives on rushing around at the last minute? I have to confess to being somewhere between the two, but I'm getting better at spreading the load when it comes to cards and I'm finding that even easier this year thanks to Craft Artist. When I have a spare few minutes I'm designing card fronts - some come together in one go and some I come back to several times, usually because I run out of time in one session. At the moment this one is still just a card front created in CAP2 but it will be finding it's way onto a card blank soon.

What I've used:

  • Main bp from 8x8 silver collection, peel offs from Rhapsody in Blue and snowglobe from the Trad-temporary Christmas kit (all from Crafty Ann's)
  • Rudolph inside the globe is from Robyn's Fetish and coloured digitally. The snow inside the globe was done using one of the new brushes in CAP2
  • The gorgeous flourish is from All in the wood by Miriam's Scraps and was changed to gold in CAP2.
  • The red flowers are from Christmas Gifts from Daisy Trail

Lady in Red

Another lovely play with CAP2 for this one. This is our GD's birthday card - she's at that in betweeny stage where she thinks she isn't still a child but we know she is, lol! I originally started out to use a photo to make the backing paper which I did by cutting just Sophie out using the Cutout Studio in CAP2 then using a blending mode and an edging brush. The only trouble was that I was really pleased with the effect and didn't want to cover it up so after much trial and error I came up with the design above - hopefully she'll like it! The only things that are their original  colour are the backing paper I blended Sophie into, the silver layer and the original photo in the round frame, everything else has been re-coloured. Although the photo doesn't show it, the card has been layered up, using the methods in this tutorial to keep paper and ink wastage to a minimum.
What I used:

  • Backing paper from Tropical Popsicle (this was a recent prize from the lovely Ann at More Fun Scrapping - lucky, lucky me!) Flourish made to look as if it's been embossed into the backing paper is from Sparkle Sky and the three straight ribbons from Summer Fun all by Daisy Trail
  • Large ribbon and bow from Aged Wedding from Miriam's Scraps (I'm afraid I can't add a link here right now)
  • Circular frame, and large bp from Imperial Purple kit and silver bp from Trad- temporary Christmas, all from Crafty Ann's
