CACB #73

Good friday morning fellow bloggers - I'm running a little late with blogging my card this morning. It's time for the new callenge at CACB and this time it's a little more specific. For challenge #73, you have a choice of either a monochrome card in shades of turquoise/aqua, or lilac/purple or you can do a duotone card using both of these colour palettes. These colours only please, this isn't a general monochrome challenge.

Half of the team have gone monochrome and the other half duotone. I'm in the second camp (just in case you hadn't already guessed!) I love these colour combinations together and given the very grey summer we've had here in the UK, it was nice to make something bright. I created my card in Craft Artist then printed it off and layered it up. What I used:

  • Turquoise backing paper from Tempting Turquoise, Purple paper on nested shape from Imperial purple, silver backing paper from a new kit hitting the shelves imminently.
  • Silver leaf stems from Pretty in Pink, flowers from Sweet Sage (the colour changed in Craft Artist)
  • Peacock Fan digi stamp - coloured digitally. All of these from Crafty Ann's
  • Circular flourish from Modern Lace from Daisy Trail and colour changed in Craft Artist.
I'm entering my card into these challenges:
Thank you for dropping by today and I hope you'll be inspired to join us this week. Do pop over and visit the rest of the DT too, their samples are fabulous!

Christmas in August

I wasn't sure if I'd get this posted at all today - mega computer problems that I won't bore you with! This one is for our new challenge at CACB and our theme this time was Christmas in August. I wasn't feeling too Christmassy, but I enjoyed making it anyway and it's another for the box and they all help. I put it all together in Craft Artist. The bp is from the embossed dots brights collection and the garland is a digi stamp that has been treated with a mixture of colouring and paper piecing. The peel offs around the edges are from Rhapsody in Blue - all are from Crafty Ann's. The text was done in Craft Artist and the swirl is from It's all in the wood from Miriams. The 'glass' piece behind the garland was done in Craft Artist.

Thank you for dropping by today and I hope you'll be ready to take a break from the summer (assuming you've had one, unlike some of us!) and share a Christmas project with us.

Still wishing I was there!

This is going to be a title page for an album I'm doing devoted to Gran Canaria. We've been a few times, but the photos I'm scrapping are from our very first visit in 2005 when we went for 3 weeks, staying in 3 different resorts. Our first week was spent in Puerto de Mogan and was the week we expected to enjoy least but in the event we ended up wishing we could have stayed there for all three. I've used one of the bp's from the new eggstravaganza kit then laid the photo on top and played with various effects in Craft Artist to blend the two to create my backing paper. The frames have been created from letters and the same photo dropped into them. There's a great tutorial as part of August's monthly challenge on the Daisy Trail forum which I did this page for.

I Sooooo Wish I Was There!

This is the other page I was talking about in the previous post, using the new Eggstravaganza Kit and a couple of other elements. The backing paper is one of my favourites in the new kit and I'll admit that I looked for a photo to go with it. I found this one - it's Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria which has to be one of my favourite places on the planet.
What I used:

  • Backing paper, egg, flowers, ribbon and slider from the Eggstravaganza kit, the tag from Cream Dream kit and gold bp from 8x8 Gold Collection (all from Crafty Ann's). The gold bp was cut into the corners and a swirl using the punches and had an edge added in Craft Artist
  • Sparkly swirls behind the blue flowers from Sparkle Sky kit (from Daisy Trail)

I'm loving making the pages for our sepia album, but it's been nice to have a change and I really like the brightness of this one, it's really helping me to remember the glorious sunshine we had out there - well, let's be honest, our own weather won't do that just now!

Thank you for popping by today.

Don't Be Fooled By The Beer!

This is the first of two pages I did yesterday. I'm all eggscited because of a new scrapbooking kit we've just got into the shop. (Sorry - couldn't resist!) It's a bit different in that there are 'glass' domed eggs to put pictures behind and that some of the elements have gold and silver 'embossed' outlines - and the best bit is that it's at a very special price, just 95p!
I've created another page for our sepia wedding album and believe it or not, this one was inspired by something we bought on honeymoon.  It was one of those engraved glass ornaments - you know the sort of thing I mean - the engraving is done on the inside. They took our photo and made it from that. I was looking at that while I was dusting it the other day and was just thinking how lovely it would be if you could have the same sort of thing on a FabergĂ© egg - although it would be way out of my price league!! I was remembering this as I sat down to play with the latest kit and that was when I thought that I could give myself the next best thing so I decided to create another page for our sepia wedding album. I've created the page in Craft Artist (where else??) There is a tutorial on how to use the eggs here - it's really very easy when you see the intention behind them.
What I've used:

  • Pink paper strips, rosebuds, roses and leaves and egg from Eggstravaganza Kit (from Crafty Ann's)
  • Rings, champagne bottle and champagne glasses from Aged Wedding (from Miriam's)
  • Scroll from Swirling Memories and Plaque that I added the journalling to from Modern Lace (both from Daisy Trail)
  • The heart shaped 'brads' I created in CAP
I'm having a lot of fun with this kit as you'll see when I post the other page I did! In the meantime, I'm entering my page into these challenges:
Thank you for visiting today and I hope your day is a good one.

It's another page for "that" album from me today - I hope you aren't getting too sick of it because I'm loving doing them. This one is my sample project for our challenge #71 that's just gone up at CACB today. The theme is to have more than one circle on your project. What I've used:
  • Large bp and gold ribbon from a new kit that will be in the shop within the next couple of days
  • Gold paper from the 8x8 gold collection, scroll mount and circular frame both from Imperial purple, watch and wire heart from Cream Dream (all from Crafty Ann's)
  • lace from British Street Party from Daisy Trail
  • Key from Denim Lace kit from Miriam's
  • The four buttons or brads (or whatever they look like to you, lol!) in the four corners were made by using the same round frame and filled with anther of the gold bps.
I changed the colour of all the elements except the lace and ribbon in Craft Artist so that I didn't have too much gold.
