Christmas In March

It's that time again already - where does the time go?? It's time for challenge #62 at CACB and this time we're thinking Christmas in March. I know......already, but it can be any project, it doesn't have to be a card. The rest of the DT have come up with some great ideas so do be sure to check them out. I've usually got my Christmas cards started by now but this is my first one for this year. I decided not to go for traditional colours this time because I was really struggling to get into Christmas mode so I decided to let a few challenges sort me out. The first one is Craft Your Passion who have asked for monochromatic. I like the challenge of monochromatic cards but which colour? Well, Digital Tuesday want us to use our favourite colour so I make no apology for using purples - again! lol. Jingle Belles have Happy Hybrid Holidays as their theme which means to use a digital image and/or elements on your card - I think I've got that covered. :o) Finally,OSAAT Simon Says Stamp, says Anything Goes and seeing as they are being so accommodating, it would be rude not to join in. :o)
My main image is from the pre-coloured poinsettia faberge egg sheet, the snowflakes and 'diamanté' studs are from the Traditional Christmas SB kit and the bps are a sneak peak of some to come - all from Crafty Ann's. Some stardust stickles, a couple of white glittery peel offs and a sentiment peel off finish it off.
Thank you for popping by today, and I do hope you'll get the chance to join us.

Spring Basket

We have a glorious day here, I do hope you have one where you are too. My card today is for several challenges and I decided to go for an almost WOW scheme. I've followed the sketch from Sketch Saturday which was lovely to work with. My bp is a pearlescent white which I put through an embossing folder. I used a lace stamp embossed with guilded ivory ep although the real effect is very difficult to see in the photo - and we just won't talk about how many photos I took trying to get a half decent one. I've used double strips of white sparkly peel offs instead of some of the layers. Some punched flowers that I've added pearls to the centre of finish the background. The image is a combination of digi stamps I've added irises and daffodils to the fabulous basket from Shelley's Images that is one of the images for round #14 of the Progressive challenge at CDAC this time. I coloured all of them digitally. I had a very clear idea of how I wanted this card to look from the start but had a few false starts before it finally came together, but I'm happy with the end result.

Double Trouble!

I have two cards to share with you today - these are for my twin niece & nephew who will be 11 tomorrow. I can't believe that they have got to this age so quickly! I honestly don't know what my sister is thinking of in allowing them to do this......I was privileged enough to be there when they were born and I'm telling you that there is no way that 11 years have passed since then!!!
Anyway, on to the cards. This first one is for my nephew (but then you probably didn't need to to tell you that! lol!) I've used Victory Kid by Kenny K. I digitally paper pieced his cap and Jeans using a denim backing paper from  Joanna Sheen's Fashion Boutique CD1 then used the dodge tool to create some faded areas. I coloured the rest of the image  as normal. The bps are mainly from a new scrapbooking kit that will be hitting Crafty Ann's in the next couple of days, apart from the silver which is already there and part of a pack of silver papers. The greeting was computer generated and the buttons have been lying sadly neglected in my stash for ages.

I'm entering this one into these challenges:
See further down for the other challenges it's for.

For my niece's card I've used a lovely image from the Paper Shelter called The Lovely Ballerina. My niece is a dancer so this one was perfect for her. The two main bps are from the crinkle collection and the one on the mat behind her is from the silver collection, both from Crafty Ann's. The doily is one I've created. 3 pearls from my stash are the finishing touch here.

Challenges I'm entering both cards into are:
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all have the same beautiful weather we have here.

Spring Into Spring

It's time for challenge #61 at CACB and this time our theme is Spring into Spring. I must say that I'm well and truly ready for spring! I've used a new digi called Host of Golden Daffodils. The sheet has a couple of sentiments on it too and one of them is the first 4 lines of the Wordsworth poem - well, it had to be really considering that he and I share the same birthplace! I've added the poem segment to a tag and tied it to a second one saying Happy Birthday with some lovely organza ribbon and just tucked them behind the main topper. All the bps are from Crafty Ann's and the scalloped triangle has been stamped with my favourite corner swirls stamp by Sheena Douglas using Brilliance pearlescent lavender. To finish it I've added some pearls to various points of the stamp.

Just a Flower......

This card is for round #13 of the progressive challenge on CDAC. I decided to use this lovely flower head from Glitterbabe. I changed the outline of the flower to gold in photoshop and digitally paper pieced it. The two bps are from Crafty Ann's as is the flourish which is from the Pretty in Pink scrapbooking kit. I added the sentiment to the darker paper before printing. The flower heads have been added with some 3D foam. It's a relatively simple card, but sometimes these work best and it does allow the flowers to take centre stage.

CACB #60

We've reached challenge #60 at CACB and this time our theme is Anything but a card. The whole DT have come up with some fabulous inspiration for you so do go and check them out for some great ideas.

I did a Scrapbook of our photos just after we got married 5 years ago and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to do a sepia one too but haven't had chance to get round to it until lately. I'm not just doing one though, I'm doing two! I've decided to do both a digital one and a physical one so I've got two pages to show you. Both are 12 x 12. This first one is the digital one.

The brown bp is from the polished stone earth tones collection, and the other papers and most of the elements are from the Cream Dream kit and I've used both frames from the gold frames 2 sheet, overlaying the smooth one on top of the textured one. (All from Crafty Ann's)

This second one is the physical one. I wanted to use the elements from the digital layout but don't have an A3 printer to be able to do the whole page as it stood. (There's one on my wishlist, but it may be there for some time yet!) I could have done it as an 8x8 but hubby has specifically asked me for a 12 x 12 album so I had to change it slightly. I'm not disappointed though and I love the result.

I've had a fair bit of scrapbooking stuff put away for ages because I wasn't in a position to use it for quite a while and when I went in search of the album I bought about 4 years ago, I found a treasure trove that I'd forgotten about - talk about a kid in a sweetshop!! Oooh! I did have a great time re-discovering it all! My base sheet is from a collection of hand made papers that I'd bought specifically for this project and forgotten about. As you can see, I printed off various elements from the digital page and cut them out for this page and added some embellishments from my stash. The flourishes are a Marianne's die and the lacy strip on the brown bp is a 10" rubber stamp and halo gold ep.

The stamp is a cube with 4 different lace designs on it that I've had for years and unfortunately it doesn't have a company name on it.
I've really enjoyed making this hybrid page, and look forward to making more.
