Don't Faint!

Wow! Two posts this week! I'm seriously behind with the last few Bah! Humbug! Challenges and I have cards in my head for all of them!!

At least I've made it this week though. This week's challenge is stars and I decided to go for a CAS look. I've added an L shaped border down the left hand side and along the bottom of embossed stars from a papermania christmas borders collection - these embossing folders are seriously good value. Other than that, I've used the pre-coloured poinsettia from Crafty Ann's - the poinsettia is also available as a normal digi stamp but for speed, I've opted for the pre-coloured one and added a second layer of the red bracts for a bit more dimension. The greeting tag is a stamp I got free on a magazine last year and stamped with warm red chalk ink - which is a deeper colour in real life than the photo makes it look.

My card is for quite a few other challenges too:
Thank you for your visit today, don't forget to come back on Friday for the CDAC blog hop (see post below for details)  :D

Something to look forward to!

Here is a date for your diary! This weekend sees the very first blog hop at Crafter's Digital Art Centre (CDAC). It is only open to members of CDAC but as it's free to join and has lots going on that you can join in with or not as you choose, why not come and join us so that you can take part? CACB #24

Good friday morning everyone - it's time for challenge #24 at Crafty Ann's and we have something a little different this time because we want you to make Anything But A Card!
I've decided to make a virtue out of a necessity and make a cover for a tissue box for Christmas. I thought it might be rather nice to make it part of the decorations this year. I've used one of the papers from tartan collection 1 and fastened the 4 corners together with a narrow satin ribbon so that it can be folded down and stored away with the rest of the decorations when we take them down again. The poinsettia on the top is a new digi and will be in the shop later today (hopefully) as will some sheets of pre-coloured ornaments that I've used around the sides. I've coloured the poinsettias with promarkers.

Each ornament has been backed by a piece of white pearlescent paper that's been put through a snowflake embossing folder. The tiny irridescent bows add a lovely finishing touch.
I'm also entering my tissue box cover into these challenges:
Thank you for dropping by today and for any comments you leave - all are very much appreciated.

CACB # 23

Crikey but these fortnights are flying by! It's time for challenge #23 at Crafty Ann's already and this time our theme is monochrome so I've gone with shades of red. I've used one of the cupcake images (adding extra cherries to create the 'candle') and coloured it with promarkers and added some glitter on the icing and the candle flame. The bps are from the embossed dots brights collection and the tartan collection 1. I've matted the cupcake onto white pearlescent paper and textured gold card using some nesties that I chose as my prize from the Simon Says Stamp sponsored Sketch and Stash challenge a few weeks ago.I've embellished with a 3D short petal flower that I first painted with twinkling H2Os but it wasn't red enough (too pinky) so I went over it with the poppy promarker that I used on the cupcake and the effect is really lovely! There's still some of the shimmer showing and there's a real depth of colour with the combination - I think I'll be doing that again. I added the flourishes cut from some of the white pearlescent paper to finish it.
My card has also been inspired by these challenges:
