CACB #26

Good Friday morning bloggers! It's time for challenge # 26 at Crafty Ann's and this time we have a recipe challenge for you: Ribbon, Gems and at least one embellishment made from paper or card. Some new digis have just gone into the shop - 3 Faberge Style Eggs and 3 Faberge Style Egg Necklaces. I've used Egg no: 1 on my card and because I was running short of time I've coloured it digitally and added glitter and gems. I've also used the pre-coloured small petal 3D flower in yellow. My other paper embellishments are the die cut swirls and the home made 'brads' which I did with some gold mirri scraps, a 1/4" hole punch, a 6mm ball tool and a small stamping mat. My bps are a new embossed flowers one (about to go in the shop) and some pearlescent paper cut out with a nesties label die.

I'm also entering my card into the following challenges:
I hope that you're all getting a lot of fun from your crafting and that you'll be able to join us for our new challenge - thank you for dropping by today.

Ebony & Ivory......

I've really enjoyed making this card, it was one of those that just started put itself together in my mind as soon as I saw one of the challenges that inspired it. The challenge I'm talking about it Your Next Stamp and this week we're asked to be Nicely Negative. The girls have some good suggestions for how to do this, but because I'm never happy with stamping with white ink, I decided to do it with a digi stamp. I've used Venetian Mask 3 and inverted it in photoshop to create my negative - then I did the same thing with a Happy Birthday Ticket. Once I'd done this, I decided to make my whole card just black and white and went in search of a suitable sketch which I found at Truly Scrumptious with the optional extra of an easel card - and I don't need an excuse to make one of those!! Allsorts (which I'm hoping I've made by the skin of my teeth) want us to be insprired by a song title and mine is Ebony & Ivory. Charisma Cardz want more than one fold and Papertake weekly want three of a kind. The bp is from the Black & White Collection and I've used one of the buckles from the embellishments sheet that I've coloured digitally and squished a bit to get the shape I wanted for this project. The three large gems at the side were coloured with black promarker and to finish it off I've used a couple of satin ribbons, some black card and a couple of heart embellishments. Since I took the photo, I've added some tiny white pearls to the 'studs' on the mask but haven't had chance to take another photo - they do finish it off very well though. The papers, Venetian Mask, Embellishments Sheet and Tickets Sheets are all available from Crafty Ann's.

I hope you like it too and thank you for your visit today.

Okay - I Caved In!!!!!

It didn't take long for me to cave in and use the purple and black papers that I fought with myself over in my last post did it????
Incidentally, the papers are proper purple - honestly!! I don't know why, but my camera always makes purple look blue! (It is, of course, the camera and not my photographic skills!)
This card is for our GD who becomes a teenager tomorrow and this image from Mo Manning sums her (and I suspect every other 13 year old girl) up to perfection. I've coloured the image with promarkers and cut it out with a nestie label die.
The dps are from the new purple & black collection. I used one of the blank tickets from the Tickets Sheet so that I could add my own sentiment to it and overlaid it onto lilac from the polished stone pastels collection before printing it off. Finally, I embellished with satin ribbon that I coloured with black promarker and added a faux buckle slider from the embellishments sheet that I coloured on the computer and added stickles to. The papers, tickets and embellishments sheet are all available from Crafty Ann's.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
  • Our Creative Corner - the lovely sketch
  • D2P - colour of the rainbow (definitely purple!!!! lol!)
  • Incy Wincy - faux it up (ribbon slider buckle)
  • CCT - Make your own (no shop bought embellishments)
  • C4C - Birthday
Thank you for dropping by today.

CACB Challenge #25

Another fortnight has whizzed by again and we're already at Challenge #25 at Crafty Ann's. This time our theme is: Use at least 1 digi stamp and your favourite colouring medium - don't forget to tell us what your favourite is.

I've taken myself right out of my comfort zone colour wise with this one. For some reason I don't really like using yellow so I decided that I would this time. A little while ago, I was asked if I would consider doing some orange and black papers which I duly did and Kym liked them so much that she asked me to do some other colours with black. There's now quite a range just waiting to go up into the shop and one of these is yellow and black (which is already there) so I decided to go with that - but oh boy did I have a fight with myself not to use the purple and black instead!!!

I've used Venetian mask 3 coloured with promarkers and black glitter (two fav mediums of the moment) and I've matted this onto some white pearlescent paper cut out using a nestie label (no 4 I think). I've embellished with a buckle that I've glittered and added flat backed gems to and white and yellow ribbon.

It's growing on me but I'm still not 100% sure of the colour - now if I'd gone with the purple &!

I'm also entering my card into these challenges:
I do hope you'll be able to join us again, we get such pleasure from visiting your blogs.

1st CDAC Blog Hop!

This weekend sees the very first blog hop at CDAC. We are giving you a trip around the blogs of the participating artists to give you the opportunity to see all the different styles on offer. The final paragraph of this post tells you all you need to know to be in with a chance of winning one (or maybe more!) of the prizes on offer. As well as the grand prize, each of the artists is giving a prize from their own store.

At Crafty Ann's we have digi Stamps, digital backing papers and pre-coloured images on offer and the winner of the prize from my blog will win:
  • 1 digi image
  • 1 backing paper collection (there are 6 sheets in each collection)
  • and 1 Pre-coloured sheet of their choice.
For my card above I have used the Bridge over Stream digi, embossed dots bp and a sheet from the brand new Blue and Black collection (which is so new it isn't in the shop yet but will be very soon.) I coloured the image using brilliance ink, memento ink and chalk ink in 6 different colours using duster brushes. I've often used cut 'n' dry foam to colour scenic images that I've rubber stamped with stazon but wasn't sure how inkjet printer ink would react. The duster brushes don't lay the ink down as heavily and haven't affected the printer ink at all so I'm delighted to have found a way to do this.

At Crafty Ann's, the range of digis tends to quite eclectic and often reflects what I have a fancy for drawing at the time, so I'd also like to share one of my favourite cards with you. This one uses two of the Venetian Masks. If you'd like to know the details of how I did this one and what I used, please click here for the original post.
